Kelsey here - I've always been a creator, and I mean always. Growing up, I enjoyed making fleece blankets, pj pants, and other gifts for friends and family – Sewing is a practice handed down by the matriarchs of my family.

My love of sewing presents for friends became a small business originally named Seams Like Kelsey, and has now evolved to Seams & Shine – selling handmade items such as quilts, bowl cozies, cornhole bags, burp cloths, and a variety of other items. (seamsandshine.com)

To encourage my passion for sewing, Ryan surprised me with the JUKI sewing machine of my dreams on our wedding day!

Shortly after we were married, we moved back to Ryan’s home state of Ohio and then just a few years later Ryan suffered a spinal cord injury days after his 30th birthday (www.whynot-me.com). Once again, I turned to my creative outlet to cope.

We know what you’re thinking, ‘QUILTING!? What’s that got to do with tie dye!?’ Let us explain.

Through Ryan’s recovery, we were looking for a hobby we could both enjoy together. Intrigued by the idea of dyeing my own quilting fabric, I began researching the ice dyeing process and needed materials. Almost immediately, Ryan had started purchasing the supplies for us to give it a go.

In September 2020, we completed our very first DRIP. We began by experimenting with t-shirts.

We came to enjoy watching the visual patterns of the ice melting and colors mixing. As the ice melts, there are lots of little drips…..which led us to calling our dyeing sessions ‘dripping’.

Combined with Ryan’s obsession with his home state and the love of a good double entendre – the word drip pertaining to clothing – Ohio Drip was born.

After we started wearing some of our new dripped items, friends and family began asking if they too could get some drip.  One thing led to another and we decided to open our Etsy Shop, Ohio Drip, with our first Drop being in November 2020, the first Dripsgiving.

Next thing we know, we were sitting under a tent at our first pop up shop.

When Ryan and I first started ice dyeing it was never about building a brand or a business. It was about finding a hobby to do as a couple during one of the hardest times in our lives.

Because of that, we are able to focus on making items that we find to be of the best quality and love ourselves. The goal is to make one of a kind, unique, and premium products that make you feel good.

Ohio Drip is about ‘Making Life Colorful’ through the drip you wear in your everyday life.
